MMC! is recklessly signing on for too many blogathons in May and June, but with so many appealing topics, we just can’t resist! Crystal at In the Good Old Days of Classic Hollywood has struck upon the great idea of a blogathon devoted to films featuring animals – “The Animals in Film Blogathon.” Criterion fans will note a forthcoming post on Vittorio De Sica’s Umberto D. (1952).
Here at MMC!, we will be promoting Yves Robert’s Very Happy Alexander for a Criterion treatment. As well as being a very funny and charming treatise on the merits of leisure (or perhaps even laziness), Very Happy Alexander features a witty role for Kaly, a scruffy little dog who plays Alexander’s most loyal and faithful friend.
Stay tuned for more blogathon announcements. (And wish me luck in meeting these deadlines!)
