October is Highbrow Horror Month!

While the Criterion Collection is releasing some 50 or so spine numbers each year, there are relatively few recurrent themes that can be counted on to regularly appear in a given month.  Still, each October promises at least a couple horror-tinged titles bearing a wacky “C”.  This month offers Lewis Allen’s The Uninvited (1944) and René Clair’s I Married a Witch (1942), while previous Octobers have added Roman Polanski’s Rosemary’s Baby (1968), Kaneto Shindo’s Kuroneko (1968), Erle C. Kenton’s Island of Lost Souls (1932), and Nobuhiko Obayashi’s House (1977).  In keeping with this tradition, October will be highbrow horror month at MMC!  Over the next 31 days, we’ll turn our attention to some conventional and some unconventional choices for October admissions to the Collection (and the Drafthouse series).  Stay spooky, kids!
